General Admission Requirements
Students must have completed secondary education and hold a Caribbean examinations council certificate (CXC) level equivalents;
Or hold a General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced 'A' Level
Admission Procedure
Applicants must apply directly to the
higher education institution of their choice. Fill out an application form and submit it along with the required documents.
Documentation
Submit the following documents:
Admission application form: Fill it completely
Application fee and passport-size photos
Letter of recommendation: At least two letter of recommendation from people who have the firsthand knowledge of your academic capabilities.
Academic records: Should include official transcripts from your secondary school, or any other certificates.
Standardized test scores: Scores of CXC examinations- CAPE; ACT and SAT are accepted
International Students Documentation
International students who wish to take admission into the higher education institution in Belize must submit the following documents:
English language proficiency certificate: International students whose official language is not English must provide a proof of their competency in English.
Proof of financial support: Furnish the evidence of sufficient funds for the entire duration of the course of study. Can be an official letter from a bank or other financial institution
A valid copy of passport
Standardized Tests
CXC examinations: The Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) prepares two exams- Caribbean Secondary Examinations (CSEC) for high school level and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exams (CAPE) for the tertiary and the junior-college level.
SAT: The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is an aptitude test that assesses the reasoning and verbal abilities of the candidates. Some of the higher education institutions in Belize accept SAT scores.
ACT: The American College Testing (ACT) is an achievement test that assesses the school knowledge, i.e. subjects learned in schools. This test is for admission into the colleges.
English Language Proficiency
Applicants are required to prove their English proficiency level and they can do so by submitting the scores of either:
TOEFL: Test of English as a foreign language
IELTS: International English language testing system
